Tribological Performance of CoCrMo Alloys with Boron Additions in As-Cast and Heat-Treated Conditions

چکیده

The present study evaluates the effect of boron additions on tribological performance CoCrMo alloys. alloys were prepared with ranging from 0.06 to 1 wt%. materials characterized using metallographic techniques, scanning electronic microscopy, and roughness hardness tests. Tribological evaluation was made by means ball-on-disc tests for sliding distances 4, 8 12 km. samples in as-cast condition after a heat treatment at 1200 °C h, finished water quenching. results showed that wear resistance influenced microstructure number secondary phases. volume loss decreased as content increased. Due hard phases, abrasion observed. Delamination fatigue also detected long distances. Both mechanisms diminished higher

Microstructure of Retrievals Made from Standard Cast HC-CoCrMo Alloys

During the past decade, self-mating metal bearings based on cobalt– chromium–molybdenum (CoCrMo) alloys have become very popular in total hip replacements and hip resurfacings. This led to a market share of more than 35 % for metal-on-metal (MoM) bearings in the United States before several cases of high wear with biologic consequences led to a sharp drop in popularity. In part, these failures ...

Effect of Ageing Temperature on the Mechanical Properties of Al-6Si-0.5Mg Cast Alloys with Cu Additions Treated by T6 Heat Treatment

Effect of artificial ageing temperature on the mechanical properties of Al-6Si-0.5Mg alloy containing 0.5 – 4 wt% Cu was studied. The solution treated alloys containing different amounts of Cu were aged isochronally for 1 hour at temperatures up to 300C. The precipitation stages during ageing were monitored by hardness measurements. Tensile and impact properties were determined by standard test...

Tribological Behavior of Reinforced and Unreinforced High Chromium Cast Iron

In this paper, the metal matrix composites containing 22 wt % Cr, 2.5 wt % C and 2 to 16  volume percent TiC were processed by solidifying Fe-Cr-Ti-C in which precipitation of titaniumcarbide and chromium carbide occurred. The microstructure and abrasion resistance of in-situ synthesized composites were compared with the unreinforced high chromium white cast iron (HCWCI) containing 22 w. t. % C...

THERMAL FATIGUE RESISTANCES OF 356 AND 413 CAST Al ALLOYS

Abstract: Thermal fatigue is a stochastic process often showing considerable scatter even in controlled environments. Due to complexity of thermal fatigue, there is no a complete analytical solution for predicting the effect of this property on the life of various components, subjected to severe thermal fluctuations. Among these components, one can mention car cylinder, cylinder head and pi...
